Welcome to the LZ's Picture Archive.  Here you will find pictures of every LZ Russell experience, from cooking up a can of beans 'n' mofos for breakfast in 1969 Vietnam, to the kindergarten schoolhouse built near LZ Russell by the LZ Russell Association in 2003.  This is an ongoing project that will be continually updated and greatly enhanced when we recreate this archive in a searchable on-line data base and video clips from the era (get  your donations in, boys!)  Meanwhile, enjoy what has been posted so far and check back often. 

Viewing Tip: If you put your mouse pointer over a picture you have opened, it may show a button in the lower right hand corner.  If you click that button, an even larger picture will be shown.  This is great for seeing the details.

You will notice we have a discussion forum in this section.  Feel free to participate by adding your comments and memories of any picture you see.  Be sure to write down the picture name when you are viewing it and then use that name, plus the name of the picture section it is in, in the contents of your discussion so everyone will be able to find the picture you are talking about.

HELP WANTED: Picture Archive Director

It's an easy job.  You serve as the coordinator for this section.  Tom Tilque, the LZ's Graphics Editing Director, will handle large batch editing, but you could help folks by answering their questions and coordinating with him and the webmaster.  What you don't know, now, can be taught to you in one email letter from Tom and the webmaster.   You will also monitor the discussion forum regularly, to make sure it stays clean and operating correctly and notify the webmaster when it isn't.  You will also check all the pictures (say, one section per day, or so, on a rotating basis) and tell the webmaster where things got messed up.  Eventually, you will become the LZ's Picture Expert...the guy to ask about a certain picture, or group of pictures.  That will be a great help to our webmaster and our members.  The webmaster will do the actual posting of the pictures on the web site.  If you worked an hour a week at this, you will be doing something wrong.

Job Requirements:  The ability to write a clear email, send pictures through email, and even do some light picture editing, when you can handle it.  Every once in awhile, you will write up a feature for your section to be placed in the Sitrep Newsletter, that we can attract folks to come see.  You will also advise the webmaster on new sections that could be created...such as a humor section.  You also need to actually do the job, not just take the title so you can get free drinks down at the club, or run for Mayor, or something.

Pay:  You will be paid the same as the webmaster and all of our directors:  Not one dime!  Still, LZ Directors get first choice of the girls at our reunions, plus the use of the LZ's Jet, Yacht and Private Island...when we get them.  And, you get your name at the top of this Section as an LZ Director.  That puts you on the inside

Apply:  If you can bring yourself to actually help the LZ, then please contact the Skip and we'll work something out for you.  If you can't, then you can always make a donation, because that helps too!  Besides, people who don't get stingy when they donate to the LZ always have good luck and get back 10 times whatever they donated.  It's true.
