From: Patrick "Lurch" Dougherty

On 9-21-69 when Russell blew there were 2 marines killed that day from 3/4. You have Portugal (Silveria) listed but you need to add Grover Bowen, H&S Co. 3/4 scout sniper from Columbus, Ohio to the memorial page.  I had just got done talking to Portugal and was walking across the LZ to talk to the sniper sitting there sighting in on something toward Winchester with his big bore 700 remington. the LZ blew and he and Portugal were killed.

For Private First Class Bowen and all those who knew him and loved him, I just want to say thank you for your dedication and sacrifice! Please know that you have not been forgotten and always will hold a special place in my heart! It would have been nice to have known you as a person, and I greatly appreciate your service! I just wish you did not have to pay so high a price! You forever will be a hero in my eyes!
