Note:
Steven lives in Prescott, AZ and is a retired Police Officer of the State of Arizona
I joined the United States Marine Corps with 85 young men from Arizona. The 1968 "All Arizona Platoon" Platoon 1034 at MCRD, San Diego. Over seventy of us went immediately into the infantry (all in the 03 fields) and all of us went "In Country". I did run into a few of the Arizona Marines on Operation Scottland I and II fighting in the mouintains north of Russell. I did not know that there were Arizona Marines on the L.Z. besides myself until yesterday (07/19/09). I was informed that some of them had actually returned to Russell a couple of years ago. If God could paint Hell on Earth and place the United States Marines in that picture, it would be Fire Base Russell.
