I was sent to Hotel 3/12 on LZ Russell from Dong Ha as a replacement to defend the hill.The hill had recently been overrun by a large suicide assault from the NVA (North Vietnamese Army). Many Marines were killed and wounded on the hill.
I was later sent to Echo Co. 2/4 as their F.O. (forward observer). While with Echo Co. we did search and destroy operations in the QuangTri province along the DMZ, Laos, ConTien, Cam Lo, Khe San areas, to name a few
What is life
about for me now? For me its older whisky, younger women, faster horses
and more money. nothing else really matters.
I've been to the mountain top and I have seen the light. I
created the light by calling in the illumination.
When I die, I am ready to meet my maker. Whether or not my maker is ready for
the great ordeal of meeting me could be another story.
