Text Box: MEDALS:

Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Stars
Combat Action Ribbon
Vietnam Campaign Medal
Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm
National Defense Medal
Sharpshooter Rifle Badge

I do feel that I should have received other ribbons as well as at least one purple heart. I'm trying to fine out about this stuff now. I don't care so much for myself, but I would like to leave my son some knowledge of it.

I got hit with a flat piece of a satchel charge on the right shoulder. It wasn't a bad hit and barely noticed it. I shot the NVA sapper as he was throwing it toward our com bunker and as he went down I went down on him as the charge went off and hit me. It wasn't much and certainly there were guys hurt, wounded and killed much worst than me. The medic that looked at it later got WIA or KIA, I'm not sure which. I've had guilt feelings about that and I don't know if I should get anything for it or not. Anyway, I would like to join your association and I hope to meet up with y’all soon.

Editor’s Note:

Although Jimmy obviously deserves the Purple Heart, having been wounded in battle in rather heroic circumstances I might add, it will be next to impossible for him to get a purple heart without some kind of medical records. If anyone has any ideas no how we might make this happen for Jimmy, please contact us.
