He SpeaksMy wife came in with mascara running down here cheeks and said, “Tom said we should be prepared. Terry may never speak”!
When my son, Terry, was right around two years old my wife took him to our pediatrician. He is still their doctor, because we have a tremendous relationship with him and both my children are special to him. In other words this is a great doctor whom we respect.
My wife came in with mascara running down her cheeks she said Tom said we should be prepared, Terry might never speak. Up to that point he hadn't said a word. He walked late, scored low on those tests they do and Tom said that it was a possibility.
I was sitting at the kitchen table when they came in. I went to the fridge and grabbed the butter. I put a dollop on my index finger. I put it on Terry's tongue real quick and prayed something like this "Lord, we lose Terry's tongue in Jesus name, Speak." That was it. In fact I forgot all about that whole incident.
About a year later we were in church and pastor asked for a praise report. She stood up and said God reminded her of this story and He had never gotten any praise, or glory, because Terry started to speak shortly thereafter and we simply hadn't worried about it. In fact we laughed that now our prayer was he should shut up.
We are supposed to live free from worry and fear when we are children of the King. And that is the part of this testimony that gives me the greatest joy is that we didn't agonize we just prayed and went on believing God would lose that tongue and He did.
Praise God! |
