The Source… they announced that the company had been bought and was being liquidated! Merry Christmas! After I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior I began to do very well selling. I became one of the top Speidel salesmen in the country and we had a huge sales force maybe 300+ salesmen. I was offered a sales manager "promotion" which paid considerably less than I was making and it really hacked me off, so I started looking for another job. I went to work for a jewelry company, Rosenthall. It was very high line fancy and expensive jewelry. I carried a suitcase that had nearly a million dollars worth of jewelry. And I traveled 4 states. Almost instantly, I hated it! I hated being gone. I remember being in Atlanta on the North side of town and crying out to God, help me get out of this job. It wasn't a month later the company called us up to New York with our lines, ostensibly to bring them in for refurbishment, and they announced that the company had been bought and was being liquidated... Merry Christmas! I was elated. The rest of the salesmen were heartbroken. It was right before Christmas and they were unemployed. I was in the Christmas play at my church so I just sort of threw myself into it with all my heart. It was a great distraction. I refused to worry. I refused to ruin my family's Christmas by traveling to job interviews. I purposed in my heart to trust the Lord. The day after Christmas it had been our family's tradition to go up to Georgia and spend a week in a cabin in the woods. Drive the jeep around and just enjoy being together. I was just walking out of the house and my boss from Rosenthall was on the phone. He asked if I had a job yet and I said I hadn't even been looking. He said he thought he had something for me, when I got back from the woods call him. I did and it was the best job I have ever had. I got a pay check the day my severance ran out. It was truly the provision of the Lord. About ten years ago that company was bought out and I left to start my own company. And the lesson I learned there is relevant for me this day; My source is God… not my education, good looks and charm. He is my provider and He promises that His seed will never have to beg for bread. I am not sure what tomorrow holds, but I know His plans for me are great and I know whatever and wherever I will be just fine.
Praise God!
