The following piece was posted on the Prophetic School internet list. This list is sponsored by GodSpeak International http://www.godspeak.org. I wanted to include it on our chapel page because I felt it was annointed to encourage us to go further than we ever have with God. That His Spirit is flowing like a river, ever new. The contents are new, the water. And it is always moving. God wants us to flow with His Spirit, to go deeper. I know this will bless you. Greg Submitted by Jeanne Stewart - stu4jesus@yahoo.com A Glimpse of the RiverLook at your life through the eye of the Spirit of God. Learn the treasures of the deep so you can join the river's flow. As a child of seven learning to swim, I have a memory of my first Red Cross lessons. My brother and I went every Tuesday morning for several weeks in the summer. Anything my older brother could do I would try because I felt I had to keep up with him. But one week, the lesson was learning to go deeper in the water to collect objects off the bottom of the pool while holding your breath. When you are only four feet tall, and the water you are in is around five, fear grips the heart, especially when you have moved from the comfortable three foot water of yesterday, to the over-the-head, sink-or-swim water of the now. As I watched my brother go down and retrieve the rubber comb and move on to the advanced class, I knew I wouldhave to do the same if I wanted to keep up with him. I did not know which was worse, the fear of the water or the fear of being left behind as my brother moved closer toward the final lesson. Recently I saw myself in a vision. I was running through a thick forest in fear of something chasing me. I came out of the trees upon a stream of water running quickly over rocks through the middle of this forest. I hear a voice ahead speak, "Get in My water Jeanne ... run in My water." As I move into the stream of water, I am splashing as I step because the water is so shallow. Moving on in the stream, I notice it is getting deeper and wider. Now I am moving with less splashing and slower strides. Actually, I am now walking in water up to my knees. In front of me I see where the stream is flowing into a river. Swimming becomes necessary as the water quickly covers my shoulders. Around a bend I see beautiful trees hanging over the river along the banks; the water is crystal clear, revealing the bottom. I see all varieties of fish, and different shaped rocks with all hues of colors. At this point I am so involved in the beauty that surrounds me that I turn over to just float with the current, in total peace with myself, forgetting that just moments before I was running with blinding fear from something of harm. Again I hear the voice speak to me, "...that which was terrifying you has lost your scent and cannot see your footprints; in the flowing of My river you are safe." As an adult, learning to swim in the river of God brings back many memories of going deeper for the treasures on the bottom as I move on to the next lesson of His power. Only now it is not competition that moves me, but the mighty love of being in the glorious presence of my Lord God Himself. There are realms into which God desires to take us and we can only be equipped for His adventures through His presence moving in us as His river flows from the throne room of heaven. Looking with the eyes of our spirit we see the river of God representing His Holy Spirit. We see the flow of His river representing the outpouring of His Holy Spirit. We must know and understand by revelation. We must retrieve understanding and collect valuable treasures as we go deeper in the "...river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells" (Psalm 46:4). God's river is the continual flow of His grace, glory, and power in the midst of His faithful people.
From the beginning of creation in Genesis, a river has flowed, giving life to the land. Moses, the deliverer of Exodus, was drawn out of the waters of the Nile for the supernatural dividing of the waters, crossing over into the promised land. Coming out from under the threshold of the temple in Ezekiel 47, the river flows from wading-deep to swimming-deep, giving life to the spirit. In John chapter 4, we see Christ as the living water restoring worship to one rejected by religious tradition. From depth to depth, we move with Christ the baptizer to Christ the lamb of Revelation chapter 22. There is always a natural and a supernatural flow in the river of God, in the presence of the One who saved us. This flow is for everyone who will come--all the varieties, shapes and hues of people desiring something more--those whose hunger and thirst can only be satisfied by our Lord Himself.
Look at your life through the eye of the Spirit of God. Learn the treasures of the deep so you can join the river's flow. The difficulties of life should make your faith purer, your trust more steadfast, your hope brighter and your resolve deeper. So much is happening in the spirit realm these last days of the church age, so come out of the realm of your own reasoning! Come into His realm, the One you await. Be dependent upon Him and His moving. Begin to see with your spirit eye and not just the natural eye. See the river flowing in the spirit! When His anointing is moving and troubling the waters, jump into the river with no fear! Swim out to the middle and lie down on your back. Allow the refreshing water to roll over you. Allow the Spirit to overwhelm you as you look for a glimpse of His face--the visual presence of His Glory by the Spirit. Only then will you truly find that clearing in the forest of life that brings us into His purpose. As the enemy of our soul loses our scent and cannot see our footprints, we become all that God desires for us, as we stay in the life-giving influence of His river. For when we catch a glimpse of His river flowing, we will hang a sign on our empty work post: "Be right back...gone to the river." You'll be in the river finding treasures on the bottom, in the deep.
