If you are having problems viewing the LZ Russell Web site, or our multi-media files, it is probably because you are not using the right software. Our webmaster built this site using Microsoft software. It is impossible for him to redesign every page in this site to be compatible with AOL, Netscape and other browsers. The same holds true with media players. We use Microsoft Windows Media Player and the Real-One media player.
You may already have these programs on your computer, but if they are not the latest versions, they won't work correctly. If you have the latest versions, then you will be told this when you try to download each of these programs. Or, you can check to see which version you have by clicking the "Help" menu and then clicking the "About.." link in each program.
Fortunately, these self installing programs can be downloaded and installed on your computer with a simple click of your mouse...and they are FREE. Here are the critical programs necessary to enjoying the LZ Russell Web Site. Just click a link to go to their download page.
Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 6 or greater)
If you use AOL or Netscape as your primary browser, you need to be sure to not check "Make Internet Explorer my default browser". if you miss that, you can always restore your primary browser by opening it and clicking the "Make this the default browser" in the tools section.
In most cases, this download will search your computer for the latest Windows Media Player version and offer to download it at the same time you are downloading Internet Explorer
Windows Media Player (version 10 or greater)
Essential for viewing most of our multi-media streaming files.
This company is so intense in selling you something without you realizing you don't need it, that it pays to stay on your toes when downloading this. You can buy their extra services if you like, but it is not necessary to using this media player. During installation it will ask you what files you want to use this player for. Selecting only the Real Media files is your best option, unless you want to make this your primary player for all media. You can always switch back by clicking the "Default" option in the Tools section of the Windows Media Player. I wouldn't even use this program were it not for half the world uses it and we run across files that can only be played by this player.
If you haven't updated your windows operating software to Windows XP yet, then you are really missing out on all the amazing new technology in the Internet... especially as it applies to milti-media and viewing the LZ Russell Web Site. Keep in mind if you do update to XP, and use Microsoft Word, Excel and other programs from the Microsoft Office Suite, you may also need to buy the upgrades for them too, because the older versions will not take advantage of all the XP features. True, this is not an inexpensive process, but you paid good money for your computer. Why let the software cheapen it? You don't have to buy the professional version to make it work, but you might have more fun if you bought the multi-media version, rather than the standard home version. Either version will be sufficent for viewing LZ Russell
