LZ Russell Association would like to welcome in 17 new members who have joined us since our last SITREP news letter. Some of them have already sent in some great stories! Associate Members We have some new associate members, but I have included a list of all of our associate members here, so you can see who they are to date. Barolak, Linda - Skip was on his way to our 2002 Las Vegas reunion, from New Mexico, and found her stranded on a lonely stretch of highway outside of Winslow, Arizona. She had her sister and a girlfriend with her and three kids! He helped them get towed in to Flagstaff, AZ and get set up in a Motel room. After getting their car fixed, they showed up in 'Vegas and stayed a couple of days...becoming a new family for Skip. Her husband is in the Air Force and her son just joined the Army. She lives on Travis Air Force Base, California. Marshall, Dana - Skip's Sister in Mesa, Arizona. Darcey, Elizabeth - Elizabeth is a 26 year young lady who bought a POW/MIA bracelet bearing James Jackson's name (our only MIA from the LZ). She asked for more information about him and I assisted her. DeVoll, Richard and Judith - Long time friends of Skip...Family, actually. They live in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Donoso, Raul - Raul is a dear friend. Without him, Skip would have never gotten help from the VA for PTSD. He literally wrestled him to go there and then walked him through the entire process, keeping him on track when he wanted to fly. This man has stories about his Army career in intelligence that are absolutely amazing. Skip has been nagging him to write them up to publish on our web site. He lives in Bellingham, Washington. Epperson, Jeff - Brother of LZ member, Randy Epperson. He has attended a couple of our reunions and also went with Ken Heins and Randy to Vietham, where they made it to the top of LZ Russell (See our Pictures section on the web site) He is a nice guy who served in the Army. Hanson, Bo - Skip assisted Bo in a request for more information concerning Cary Smith, one of our deceased members. Jenkins, Tim - Admiral, U.S. Navy (Ret.), Vice President, Merrill Lynch, Jacksonville FL. Friend of LZ Russell's Financial Director and primary advisor, Robb Mitchell. Lormand, Brennan - Brennan is our FIRST LZ Russell Associate member and a good friend to the LZ. He is a friend of our member, Ted Lively. Marshall, Mary - Skip met her in Yahoo Chat. Artist, writer, social worker working on her PhD in psychology (and a real cutie!), Mary slaps Skip around in discussions of spiritual understanding. She lives in Sydney, Australia. Miller, Leslie - A friend of a friend who became Skips friend (another cutie!) and co-explorer in human spirituality, she frequents our web site and recommends it to friends. She lives in Bend, Oregon. Poindexter, Chase and Julie - Skip's oldest son and his wife...parents of Skips 3 grand kids; Joelle 12, Shane 11, Ryland 4, living in Orlando, FL Poindexter, Chad - Skips son living in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, but soon moving back to Southern California. Shultz, Buddy- Attorney, Jacksonville Florida and friend of Skip and Robb. Shanklin, Erick & Cindy - Cindy is the sister of James Peschel, who died on LZ Russell on Feb.25,1969. Suprenant, Rene - Sister of Norman Suprenant, who died on LZ Russell on Feb 25,1969. Norman was a friend of LZ Member, John Hemborough, who visits Rene regularly. Tharp, Peter - Vietnam Vet, USMC - Age 60 Toth, Kim - LZ Member Willy Toth's wife and co producer, with Honorary Member Carla Heins of the upcoming web page on LZ Russell for the women and family of Vietnam Vets. Kim will soon be an honorary member when the site is launched. They live in Hampshire, IL. Wall, Don and Genie - Don was on the U.S.S. Missouri at the signing of the Japanese Surrender. They live in Deming, New Mexico.
