James.  You will not ever be forgotten by me as I was your squad leader. You were a true marine and always did what was asked of you and you never complained.  I want you to know that I miss you as a brother in arms and also as true Marine.  Feb. 25th was a night I will never forget we were hit hard by the north Vietnamese that night.  But we stood proud that night. We showed the bastards that they were messing with the real brothers in arms.  We all suffered that night, those that made it and those that did not.  I don't know why I made it as I was right next to you. I guess god had his reasons for each of us.  James you now soar with the angels.  Rest in peace you earned it and rest assured I will never forget you Marine and we will meet again,  I know you are sitting up there with all of the other fellow squad members that also did not make it.  James you were a true hero to me you will not be forgotten. Cpl. G. Buck.

We hope you know that you are missed terribly-you and all the 50,000+ others...missed by your Mom and sisters and brother and all and by us, your more fortunate buddies -we who made it home...and we ask "why us and not you"?  We wonder that many, many times. We hope you know that you made a difference--the world is a safer place today for what you sacrificed--but not necessarily a better place-it would be better if you all were still here, cause you were the best of the best. God rest all of you.
