Larry died of wounds he received on Firebase Russell, 2 miles south of the DMZ
on Feb. 25, 1969. This attack was listed By the Stars and Stripes as a Red
suicide attack.(Stars & Stripes Vol 25- No. 57) We lost 36 marines and had 97
wounded Larry was one of these wounded and as far as I know, the only one to die
after being medivac. The last time I saw my friend was carrying him to the
chopper. He was in good sprits and we planned to meet later in the states. I
have always regretted never having the chance to make that meeting.
